The Windows Phone team has announced that a new version of the Facebook app has been pushed out, with a number of fresh features including threaded messaging.

Version 2.5 of the app brings full threaded Facebook messaging to the table, including group messaging, to make the mobile version more like its full fat desktop counterpart. In a similar vein, it’s now possible to “like” comments, and give the thumbs up to the more pertinent observations of your friends.

A long press context menu allows users to tap and hold in order to delete posts and comments, making wall clean up an easier task. Furthermore, links in posts are now also tappable.

Tagging has been improved by Microsoft as well, with the ability to tag friends and locations, using the “with” and “at” formats now added. Finally, photo comments have been updated to match post comments.

You can grab version 2.5 of the Facebook app from the Windows Phone marketplace now. It’s a 1MB download, and requires Windows Phone 7.5.

Reaction to the app seems to be rather middling going by the near 14,000 ratings which have been voiced on the Marketplace download page, with users awarding the software an average mark of three out of five.
